Scheduling software

Cleaning service scheduling software built for recurring cleans

Good cleaning service scheduling software handles recurring visits with one-off skips, shows who is free and how far they have to drive, keeps clients informed by text, and gives each cleaner their own day on their phone. BroomBook does all of that for residential cleaning businesses, for one flat price: $29/mo for up to 2 cleaners or $59/mo for an unlimited team.

We make BroomBook, so this page is written by a vendor. It also gives you a checklist you can hold any tool to, ours included, and an honest answer on when a free calendar app is still enough. You can click around a live demo with sample data before signing up for anything.

$29/mo for up to 2 cleaners, $59/mo for unlimited cleaners. No credit card to start.

  • Recurring visits that bend

Weekly, every 2 weeks, every 4 weeks or monthly (the 2nd Tuesday stays the 2nd Tuesday). Skip one visit or change "this and later visits" without rebuilding the schedule.

  • Drag, drop, undo

Day, week and month views. Drag a visit to a new time or cleaner, pull its edge to change the length, and undo within 6 seconds before the client hears anything.

  • Drive time built in

Day view shows each cleaner’s route with drive times. Online booking keeps drive time free between visits, and you get a warning when a gap is too short.

  • Every cleaner sees their day

Each cleaner gets a private link with their visits, checklists and directions. No app store download, and a calendar feed for Google or Apple Calendar.

What does cleaning scheduling software actually do?

Most cleaning companies run on repeat business. A typical week is mostly the same clients at the same times, plus a handful of one-off deep cleans and move-outs, plus the changes: a client on vacation, a cleaner off sick, a family who wants Thursday instead of Tuesday this week only.

A paper planner or a shared calendar can hold the first part. The changes are where the time goes. Good scheduling software for a cleaning business takes the repeating pattern as the starting point and makes each exception one tap instead of a phone call, a calendar edit and a text.

It should also connect the schedule to the people living it. The client needs a confirmation and a reminder. The cleaner needs the address, the access notes and the checklist. You need to know who is free at 2pm on Friday and whether they can get there in time.

What to look for in cleaning scheduling software

Use this checklist on any tool you try, including ours. Book a few fake recurring clients in the free trial and run a messy week through it before you commit.

  • Recurring patterns that match how you sell: weekly, every 2 weeks, every 4 weeks and monthly by weekday (for example the 2nd Tuesday), not only "every 30 days".
  • Skipping one visit, and editing "this and later visits", without breaking the rest of the series.
  • A calendar you can drag and drop, with day, week and month views and a view per cleaner.
  • Drive time between visits, either shown on the route or protected when clients book online.
  • Warnings for double bookings and gaps that are too short, that you can override when you know better.
  • A quick way to see who is free for a visit and reassign it in one move.
  • Business hours, breaks, cleaner schedules and time off that online booking respects.
  • Automatic confirmation and reminder texts, sent at a decent hour, that you can edit.
  • A way for clients to move or skip a visit themselves within rules you set.
  • A crew view on the cleaner’s phone with the day’s visits, access notes and directions.
  • A calendar feed so you and your cleaners can see visits in Google or Apple Calendar.
  • Pricing you can predict as you hire: check whether the bill grows per cleaner or per user.

How does BroomBook handle recurring cleans and skips?

When you book a client in BroomBook, you pick how often: one-time, weekly, every 2 weeks, every 4 weeks or monthly. Monthly follows the weekday you picked, so the 2nd Tuesday stays the 2nd Tuesday. The price fills in from your price list and the start time can be any minute.

From any visit you can skip just that one, change just that one, or change "this and every later visit" (a new price from next month, a new crew, a new time). Cancelling works the same way: one visit, this one and the ones after, or the whole schedule. When you finish a one-time visit, its page suggests the next one at the client’s usual gap, already filled in.

If you close the booking form halfway through, it keeps a draft and offers it back next time. Small thing, but it saves a re-type on a busy morning.

Drag-and-drop calendar, drive time and who’s free

My Calendar shows the month, a week or one day, with every visit in its cleaner’s colour. Day view has one column per cleaner, with the hours they don’t work shaded. Drag a visit to another time, day or cleaner, or drag its bottom edge to change its length. If the move clashes with something you are asked first, and every move can be undone for 6 seconds before the client is told about the new time.

Each cleaner’s route for the day is listed with drive times and opens in Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze. On the booking page, drive time stays free between visits, so a client cannot book a slot your cleaner has no way of reaching. When you book by hand and leave a gap that is too short, you see a warning.

"Who’s free" lists the cleaners free for a visit, ranked by how far they would come from their previous visit, and you can reassign in one click. Warnings never block you: if you know a cleaner lives around the corner, save anyway.

You can also let cleaners swap. A cleaner who can’t make a visit asks the team from their phone, teammates free at that time get a text in their language, and the first to take it replaces them. You get a text at each step and can still reassign it yourself.

Waitlist, client self-reschedule and calendar feeds

When a day is full, your booking page offers clients a place on that day’s waitlist. If a visit is then cancelled, skipped or moved, the first few waiting clients whose visit fits get a text and an email. The first to tap gets a booking request for the freed time, and you confirm it like any other request. A cancellation turns into a booking instead of a hole.

Every confirmation and reminder carries the client’s own link. From it they can move a visit to a time when the crew is free, skip a recurring visit or cancel a one-off, up to 12 hours before. Replies and changes land in a Messages inbox and you get an alert by text, email or both.

If you like seeing your week in the calendar you already use, get a private calendar feed for Google or Apple Calendar. Each cleaner can have their own feed too. The visits still live in one place, so nothing gets out of sync.

Is a free scheduling app like Google Calendar enough?

Sometimes, yes. If you clean alone, have under a dozen regular clients and remember who gets which reminder, Google Calendar plus your phone’s texting app works and costs nothing. Plenty of businesses start that way, and there is no shame in staying there while it works.

A free calendar starts to cost you once a few of these are true: you spend an evening a week texting reminders; recurring visits need one-off skips and you edit the series by hand; you have a second cleaner and need to know who is free and how far they drive; clients ask for a price and a time online; you want cleaners to see access notes on the day without seeing every client’s alarm code all year; or you need clock-in hours for payroll.

At that point you are paying in hours instead of dollars. BroomBook costs $29/mo for up to 2 cleaners, and you can bring your history with you: import past and upcoming visits from a Google Calendar export or a spreadsheet, with nobody texted and nothing imported twice. Start with the 14-day free trial, no credit card needed.

What does BroomBook cost?

Two plans, both with every feature: Solo at $29/mo for up to 2 cleaners, and Team at $59/mo for unlimited cleaners. There is no per-cleaner or per-seat fee, and optional logins for cleaners and managers cost nothing extra. AI translation of job notes into Spanish, French or Portuguese is included. See pricing for the details.

A lot of cleaning company scheduling software is priced per cleaner or per user, which is cheap at two people and adds up at ten. If you are comparing, our roundup of cleaning business software lists other tools’ prices from their own pricing pages, with dates.

When to pick something else

  • You run several trades (plumbing, HVAC, landscaping) from one account. A multi-trade field service tool will fit better; see our Jobber alternatives page.
  • You are a commercial janitorial company that mainly needs bid management and site contracts.
  • You need QuickBooks sync or a native app from the App Store or Google Play. We have neither; the crew app runs in the phone’s browser.
  • You clean alone for a few regular clients and a free calendar is working fine. Keep it until it doesn’t.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the best scheduling app for a cleaning business?

The one that handles recurring visits with skips, shows who is free and how far they drive, sends reminders on its own and gives each cleaner their day on their phone. Test any tool with a messy week of real changes during its free trial before you decide.

Is there a free scheduling app for a cleaning business?

Google Calendar and similar apps are free and fine for a solo cleaner with a short client list. They do not send client reminders, handle recurring skips cleanly, show drive time or track hours for payroll. BroomBook has no free plan, but it has a 14-day free trial with no credit card.

Can clients reschedule their own cleaning?

Yes. Every BroomBook confirmation and reminder includes the client’s own link to move a visit to a time the crew is free, skip a recurring visit or cancel a one-off, up to 12 hours before. You get an alert for each change.

Does the schedule account for drive time between houses?

Yes. The day view lists each cleaner’s route with drive times, online booking keeps drive time free between visits, and you get a warning when a gap you book by hand is too short.

Can my cleaners see the schedule in Google Calendar?

Yes. You and each cleaner can get a private calendar feed for Google or Apple Calendar. Calendar apps refresh it about every hour, and you can replace the link if it is ever shared by mistake.

Do my cleaners need to download an app?

No. Each cleaner gets a private link that opens in their phone’s browser with their visits, checklists, clock in and out, and directions in Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze.

Can I move my existing schedule over?

Yes. Import clients by CSV from Jobber, ZenMaid, Housecall Pro or any spreadsheet, and import past and upcoming visits from a spreadsheet or a Google Calendar export. Duplicates are skipped and nobody is texted during the import.
